VSP Spotlight: Brooke Cameron
This week’s VSP spotlight is on Brooke Cameron. Brooke, a 10th grader at John Jay East Fishkill, is excelling both on and off the field. On the field, she plays for the highly ranked Yellow Jackets North lacrosse program. Off the field, she is motivated, dedicated, and making significant gains on the VSP training floor. Let’s dive into it!

Strength & Power
For a 10th-grade girl, Brooke’s strength and power are off the charts. She ranks well above the average in every strength and power metric relative to girls her age. Take a look below!

Dedication to Improving All Links
Every athlete has their strengths and their “weaker links.” Most athletes shy away from the aspects of their game that they struggle with or need to improve. Brooke is the opposite!
As we just showed you, Brooke is strong and powerful. Where we wanted her to improve the most was in her conditioning and aerobic output. This would help maintain her strength and power over the course of a long game.
Lately, Brooke has been staying after her sessions to complete “The Brooke,” a conditioning series that we whiteboard for her. So not only is she grinding her hardest for her full 1-hour session, but she’s also grinding for an additional 20-30 minutes to address a key point in her upcoming recruitment Summer! As a leader, that effort has become a magnet for younger, specifically female athletes, joining in ‘The Brooke’, supporting her and growing the Velocity culture.

Building Relationships and Balancing Commitments
Brooke’s success is also a testament to the great relationship we have with the different members of her “team”. Her high school coach, Sean Rowan, creates phenomenal team culture. And, we maintain fluid communication with her parents and club coach. This allows us to manage her load & ensure we aren’t duplicating time under tension. Thus, allowing her to productively train on team practice days. This has helped her chunk her time on task, balancing school work and team-building commitments with grace.
Overall, Brooke has the makeup to be a superstar on and off the field. We’re super excited to see her flourish this season, in her recruiting circuit and keep killing it in the community!
Are you working as hard as Brooke? If not, come train with us at VSP! As always, see you in the gym!
